At our parish, there is a box for depositing written prayer intentions, in order for others to keep in prayer. Frequently the box contains intentions from mothers who are worried about their children, children who have lost their faith and have wandered from the Church. Both mothers and fathers often wish they had a “do-over” when it comes to bringing up their children in the Catholic faith.

Do you want to make a difference in the eternal destiny of a child or a loved one? Take action now. God answers all prayers if they are in accordance with His Holy Will. And the good news is that God wants all of us to be in heaven with Him for all of eternity. Therefore, your prayers for those who have left the Church and lost their faith will be heard and answered because they are in accordance with God’s will. As with all prayers, they will be answered in God’s time, not necessarily in our time.

We are Catholic. If we turn to God daily in prayer with a sincere, humble and contrite heart, God will hear and answer our prayers that are in accordance with His will. In addition, if prayers are accompanied by sacrifices and alms giving, the much more efficacious they become. Pray without ceasing for your loved ones who have strayed from the Church.

Ponder: What sacrifices can you make in order for your prayers to be efficacious?

Reflect: Sacred Scripture: 1 Thes 5:16-18

Pray: Heavenly Father, let the prayers for my children’s eternal life be heard and answered.
