There’s been much talk and much concern about the unemployment rate in our country. The rate of unemployment currently being tracked is for those who do not have a job and do not earn a paycheck. With our attention focused on physical employment, jobs and work, we fail to track another very important statistic, the rate of spiritual unemployment.
The rate of spiritual unemployment far exceeds the rate of physical unemployment in our society. What are the characteristics of the spiritually unemployed, you might ask? Having little or no faith in God, having no personal relationship with your Savior, having a weak or non-existent prayer life, having unpredictable attendance at church, and having a life centered on yourself are but some of the attributes of the spiritually weak.
The good news is, the spiritually unemployed can find work and fulfillment immediately. There’s no need for a better economy or for more positions on monster.com. There’s no need to update your profile on LinkedIn or travel to the nearest unemployment office. Your spiritual job is open and waiting for you to arrive.
