GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS
We all have routines in our daily lives. Most of us have a morning routine that includes brushing teeth, taking a shower, and having a cup of coffee. These routine activities are done without much thought, we simply do them, going through the motions.
Some routines, like our morning routine, require little thought. But how do we handle our spiritual routines, such as daily prayer and Sunday Mass? Do we simply go through the motions, rushing through prayer and rushing to and from Holy Mass? Have we let our spiritual life become routine, just going through the motions?
We are Catholic. If we only paused to think about the beauty of the Eucharist and the importance of our daily prayer life we could never allow them to become routine. Renew your commitment to the Lord by pausing each day for meaningful and thoughtful prayer. And, never go through the motions in receiving Holy Communion. Make sure every reception of Jesus in the Eucharist is as beautiful as your first reception.
Ponder: How can we make our spiritual life more meaningful and less routine?
Reflect: Sacred Scripture: Acts 2:46-47
Pray: Heavenly Father, help me to never allow my relationship with You to become routine. I want to always be close to You.
