Imagine for a moment if you were able to create your own mother. What would she look like? What would her temperament and her disposition be like? If we could create our own mother, we would create a woman who was beautiful inside and out, right?
Well, God did create his own mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. And he created her beautiful inside and out. Mary is the most beautiful and perfect of all of God’s creatures. So wonderful is she yet so very humble. She is the perfect model of feminism.
Imitating Mary is the ideal of feminism. The Virgin Mary abandoned her own will and submitted to the will of God in every breath she took. Nothing was ever about her. Mary’s only desire was to please God in every moment of her life.
We are Catholic. Catholic women are called to imitate Mary and her version of feminism. Like Mary, women are called to listen to the voice of God and follow his Word in all that we think, say and do. God has created women to serve him in a special and unique way. Following Mary’s example of feminism is a sure path to leading a life of virtue pleasing to God.
Ponder: How do Mary’s ideals of feminism differ from those of secular society?
Reflect: Luke 1:38
Pray: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior. The Almighy has done great things for me and holy is his name.
